Was last year the year you had garden makeover ideas? Did you complete them? Or did you miss it altogether? Don’t fret! A new gardening year is upon us. Let’s figure out what you can do a >>little<< bit differently.
So, what happened?
Did you have the best year of gardening ever? Or did your garden ideas fade with bad weather? For some of us, there were extreme winter and summer temps!! Whether you have garden ideas on a budget, garden ideas with bricks, garden ideas for kids, or even garden ideas for a small backyard, no worries! Spring planning is upon us!
The first thing you need to do is take an inventory of what you did right.
- Were there any plants that survived extreme temps this past year?
- Was there a plant that really thrived this year (more leaves, more flowers, more robust, etc.)?
- Was there a plant that did well but would do better in a new spot? (e.g. you had a beautiful hosta that thrived on the corner of your house but is better suited for the shade)
- Was there a plant that just did what it was supposed to do?
If you can identify some plants that fall into any of the categories above, you are good! You can at least start with those plants as the baseline for your spring flower garden. Checkout the following blog posts for some guidance on getting started this Spring:
