Care and Maintenance
Mums come in an array of colors with the most common being yellow, white, burgundy, and purple. In most fall displays, mums are in containers. However, mums can be grown in the ground in the Spring and Fall! You can find mums at your local home improvement retailer or local nursery. Depending on your growing zone, your mums may act as a perennial and come back every year. If you have mums in containers after the flower has faded, plant them in the ground. It doesn’t hurt to see if they will come back next year!
You may also want to crush the spent flowers and spread them in your garden. The seeds are located in the spent flowers and this will help ensure that future mums may grow in your garden. Be sure to spread the seeds where you only want mums to grow.
